Bars, buttons and search
Around the view of the current tab, the window has the menus, a bar at the top with the date range and the search, the tabs, and a bar at the bottom with the buttons that act on the view.
The bar at the top
- At the left, the name of the file of the document. A gold dot after it means there are changes you haven’t saved.
- In the middle, the date range.
- At the right, the search field.
Searching
Type in the search field and press Enter: the Transactions tab comes forward, with only the transactions that match. In the tab of an account, the search stays there and keeps the entries that match. A transaction matches when its description, its payee or the memo of one of its lines contains what you typed, or when what you typed is exactly its check number, an amount of it, or the name of one of its accounts or of their groups. Upper and lower case don’t matter. To search everything again, clear the field with or show another view from the View menu.
To look in one place only, start with the name of that place and a colon, with no space after it:

The bar at the bottom

The middle of the bar says how many rows are selected and what their amounts add up to, in the Transactions tab, in the tab of an account and in the General Ledger.
The graph and the pie charts are shown or hidden in every view at once. The columns are chosen view by view, and DovleEntry remembers them, as it remembers the width you give a column by dragging the edge of its title, and its place when you drag the title itself.
